Ed Stritch, Owner
Ed was born and raised in Dublin Ireland and completed his degree in Construction Economics from the Dublin Institute of Technology. He immediately worked in London and Australia (Perth & Brisbane) to complete his graduate studies to become a Chartered Surveyor. He returned to London in 1976 to work at Arup Associates and three years later he moved to Houston to manage a construction consulting practice. In 1986 Ed moved with his US born wife, Sarah, to Boston where he assumed the role of senior project manager in charge of the construction of the World Trade Center and other significant projects while working for the construction arm of a Massachusetts development company.
In 1990 Ed and his wife Sarah moved to Chicago to continue his career in the construction industry. In 1996 Ed formed his own construction consulting firm, The Concord Group, which employs over 40 personnel providing services to governmental agencies, institutions and private sector clients, with offices in Chicago, Milwaukee, Grand Rapids, Columbus and Dublin Ireland.
Ed played rugby from his early high school days through his college years and into his late twenties in Ireland, Europe and Australia before hanging up his boots for good after one training secession with a club in Houston, shortly after his arrival there in 1979. Ed credits rugby with a lot of the good fortune he has had over the years and still maintains friendships with many of his old teammates and provides support to the Lions Rugby Club in Chicago.
Ed has always had an adventurous spirit. He has traveled to more than 20 countries, spent his college summers in the US working any job, from restaurants and construction to cranberry bog harvesting and is the kind of guy who makes friends wherever he goes. Prior to his involvement with Forthright Winery he was a partner in an Irish Pub in Milwaukee for over 10 years.
Ed was a regular patron at the Celtic Crossings Irish Pub in Chicago, where he first met his Forthright Winery partners Patrick, Rafer and Sel. When the opportunity to participate in the wine business came along in 2016 it seemed like a natural thing to do. He participates in many of the business aspects of Forthright Winery and assists, when possible, with the harvesting and bottling of the wines.
Ed is a board member for three Chicago area charities……Healthcare Alternative Systems, Mobile Care Chicago and Concern USA (Chicago Chapter).
